Current Affairs of 19th September – National News


1. The first Cheetah Rehabilitation Project was started by PM Modi.
◉ In Kuno National Park, PM Narendra Modi has reintroduced the wild cheetah, which had vanished from India.
◉ The world’s first intercontinental large wild carnivore translocation effort, Project Cheetah, involves introducing cheetahs that have been transferred from Namibia to India.
◉ There are five female and three male cheetahs out of a total of eight.

2. The “Door Se Namaste” series is launched by USAID and UNICEF.
◉ In New Delhi, the “Door Se Namaste” Doordarshan and YouTube series was introduced by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and UNICEF.
◉ It is a fictional Hindi television series created in an instructional manner that emphasizes the difficulties of living in a post-pandemic society and encourages the development of healthy habits.
◉ The show will air every Sunday from 11 AM to 12 PM on television.

3. Varanasi has been proposed as the inaugural SCO Tourism and Cultural Capital.
◉ Varanasi has been proposed as the first-ever Tourism and Cultural Capital of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for the years 2022–2023.
◉ It was proposed at the SCO Council of Heads of State’s 22nd meeting in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
◉ Throughout the years 2022–2023, Varanasi will host a variety of occasions for which dignitaries from the SCO Member States will be invited to attend.

4. India assumes the SCO’s rotating presidency and will host the 2023 SCO summit.
◉ In Samarkand, Uzbekistan, India received the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCOrotating )’s chairmanship.
◉ India will serve as the group’s president from September 2022 until September 2023.
◉ The SCO Council of Heads of State will convene again in 2023, this time in India.
◉ Iran will also join the SCO permanently in 2023 when India holds the presidency.

5. In Andhra Pradesh, the country’s first lithium-ion cell factory was opened.
◉ The pre-production phase of India’s first lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility has begun in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, under the direction of ◉ Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
◉ Munoth Industries Limited, situated in Chennai, invested Rs 165 crores to build this cutting-edge facility.
◉ The building is situated in one of the two Electronics Manufacturing Clusters that Prime Minister Narendra Modi established in the temple town in 2015.

6. On the Global Crypto Adoption Index 2022, India came in fourth place.
◉ For the second year in a row, a Chainalysis Global Crypto Adoption study 2022 has made that available.
◉ With an overall index score of 1.000, Vietnam is placed first in the adoption of cryptocurrencies, while India came in at number four with a score of 0.663.
◉ From eighth in 2021 and sixth in 2020, the United States has risen to fifth place in our index rankings.
◉ After finishing 13th in the Chainalysis ranking in 2021, China reentered the top ten this year.


International News


7. Together, China and the UAE will launch moon rover missions.
◉ In order to collaborate on the UAE’s moon missions, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) and the China National Space Agency (CNSA) have signed a memorandum of understanding.
◉ The two countries’ first collaborative space effort officially begins with this agreement.
◉ A rover called Rashid-2 will be developed by the UAE for the expedition, and China will assist with the landing, data transfer, observation, and control.

8. Reappointed as MD & CEO of IndusInd Bank is Sumant Kathpalia
◉ Sumant Kathpalia has been reappointed by IndusInd Bank as the bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a period of three years beginning on March 24, 2023.
◉ In March 2020, Kathpalia was first named MD & CEO of IndusInd Bank.
◉ Kathpalia worked at Citibank, Bank of America, and ABN Amro before joining IndusInd Bank.

9. Swati Piramal receives the highest French civilian award
◉ Indian scientist of note and vice chair of the Piramal Group Knight of the Legion of Honor, France’s highest civilian honor, has been awarded to Swati Piramal.
◉ The highest civilian honor in France is given to Piramal in honor of his great accomplishments and contributions to commerce and industry, research, medicine, art, and culture on a national and international level.
◉ She also received the Knight of the Order of Merit in 2006, which is France’s second-highest civilian honor.
Piramal has also received the Padma Shri award.

10. Pranav Anand becomes the 76th Grandmaster in chess in India.
◉ Pranav Anand, a 15-year-old from Bengaluru, passed the 2,500 Elo threshold during the World Youth Chess Championship that is now taking place in Mamaia, Romania, and became India’s 76th Grandmaster.
◉ A day after completing the requirements to become India’s 76th Grandmaster, he overcame France’s Augustin Droin to win the U-14 Open gold with 9 points from 11 rounds.
◉ Pranav earned more than 2,500 Elo points and met all three of the GM requirements for the title.
◉ Abhimanyu Mishra, a 12-year-old American, achieved the title of youngest Grandmaster in chess in July 2021.

11. Release of the book “Muskurate Chand Lamhe aur Kuchh Khamoshiyan”
◉ “Muskurate Chand Lamhe Aur Kuchh Khamoshiyan,” a book written by actor Manoj Bajpayee, has been published.
