1. The Nanjarayan lake, a biodiversity hotspot, has been designated as the 17th bird sanctuary by the Tamil Nadu government.

◉ The government has established an information center to enhance public knowledge of the lake’s bird population.
◉ The Nanjarayan Tank, also known as the Sarkar Periyapalayam Reservoir, is a water reservoir in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, near Koolipalayam.

2. Cotton Council of India is established by the Centre.
◉ The Cotton Council of India, chaired by renowned senior cotton man Suresh Bhai Kotak, has been established by the Union Government.
◉ Textiles, Agriculture, Commerce, and Finance Ministries, as well as Cotton Corporation of India and Cotton Research Institute, will be represented on the Council. Mr. Goyal also urged the spinning and trading community to guarantee that cotton and yarn are delivered to the home industry without delay.

3. India has surpassed Germany as the world’s fourth-largest automotive market.
◉ India has surpassed Germany as the world’s fourth-largest vehicle market.
◉ India sold 3,759,398 vehicles in 2021, compared to 2,973,319 in Germany, according to the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles (OICA). This represents a nearly 26% difference.

4. The Supreme Court has ruled that Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination suspect be released.
◉ The Supreme Court invoked Article 142 of the Constitution to award AG Perarivalan, a former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination suspect, special powers to “perform perfect justice in any cause or matter standing before it.”
◉ A bench of justices led by L.N. Rao and B.R. Gavai discharged Perarivalan after considering his lengthy detention. Perarivalan was held in solitary confinement for 29 of his 32 years in prison before being granted bail by the Supreme Court in March 2022.

5. The World Bank has approved USD 350 million for Gujarat’s SRESTHA-G project.
◉ The World Bank has granted funding for the Systems Reform Endeavors for Transformed Health Achievement in Gujarat (SRESTHA-G) project in the amount of USD 350 million.
◉ The World Bank will contribute USD 350 million to the SRESTHA-G project, which will cost USD 500 million. The project will change the state’s primary healthcare delivery systems.

6. India would go bilateral after Pakistan blasted SAARC in 2016.
◉ With Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Nepal in economic uncertainty, and Afghanistan under Islamist Taliban control, the future of SAARC appears dismal. In order to preserve its national security, India has no choice but to engage in bilateral interaction with its neighbors.
◉ Ironically, the Taliban in Afghanistan are currently fighting their instructor, the Pakistan Army, over the Durand Line, which divides the Pashtun tribe between the two countries.

7. Patanjali Ayurveda Food Business was purchased by Ruchi Soya for Rs 690 crores.
◉ Ruchi Soya, an edible oil manufacturer, has stated that it will pay Rs 690 crore for Patanjali Ayurved’s food segment.
◉ Ruchi Soya Industries Ltd’s name shall be changed to Patanjali Foods Ltd after regulatory approval.
◉ The acquired food industry includes 21 goods, including ghee, honey, spices, juices, and wheat.

8. The first dental health insurance plan in India was established by PNB MetLife.
◉ India’s first dental health insurance plan has been established by PNB MetLife India Insurance Company.
◉ The first insurance plan in India to cover fixed-benefit outpatient expenses and provide financial assistance with costs connected to general dental health is a dental health insurance plan.

9. Emirates Telecom paid $4.4 billion for a 9.8% interest in Vodafone.
◉ The Emirates Telecommunications Group Company PJSC “e&” (Etisalat Group) has paid $4.4 billion for roughly 2,766 million shares in Vodafone Group Plc.
◉ The shares account for 8% of Vodafone’s total issued capital. With the aspiration &’s to be a worldwide player in telecom and technology, the deal is currently in the works.

10. Ex-RBI Deputy Governor SS Mundra has been named Chairman of the BSE.
◉ BSE Limited, India’s leading stock exchange, has approved the appointment of SS Mundra, Public Interest Director, as Chairman of the company’s board of directors.
◉ Mundra will succeed the current chairman, Justice Vikramajit Sen. Mundra joined BSE as the Public Interest Director in January 2018. On July 30, 2017, he stepped down as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.

11. Gopal Vittal has been re-appointed as MD and CEO of Bharti Airtel for another five years.
◉ Gopal Vittal has been reappointed as Managing Director and CEO of Bharti Airtel for another five years, concluding on January 31, 2028.
◉ The appointment came on the same day that the telco announced a consolidated net profit of Rs 2,007.8 crore for the March quarter, increasing 141 percent sequentially and 164 percent year on year.

◉ Ajay Piramal, Chairman of the Piramal Group, has been awarded the coveted Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth II.
◉ As India Co-Chair of the UK-India CEO Forum, he has been recognized for his contributions to the UK-India commercial partnership.

13. For his work “The Hardest Place,” Wesley Morgan received the William E. Colby Award.
◉ For his military and intelligence writing, author and writer Wesley Morgan have won the William E. Colby Award 2022.
◉ His book “The Hardest Place: The American Military Adrift in Afghanistan’s Pech Valley” was mentioned.

14. The Indian Navy has inducted two indigenously manufactured frontline warships, the INS Surat and the INS Udaygiri.
◉ The two frontline warships of the Indian Navy were unveiled at Mazgaon Docks Limited in Mumbai by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, marking a crucial milestone in their construction.
◉ Surat, the fourth and last stealth destroyer under the ‘Project 15B’ program, is the first ship. The second ship is the frigate Udaygiri, which is part of the ‘Project 17A’ program. It is the third frigate of Project 17A.
