Current Affairs of 24th July – National News


1. Varuna, India’s first passenger drone, was unveiled by PM Modi.
◉ In New Delhi, at the Naval Innovation and Indigenization Organization (NIIO) seminar “Swavlamban,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi witnessed the unveiling of India’s first drone, which can carry a human payload of up to 130 kg.
◉ The Indian start-up Sagar Defence Engineering has created “Varuna,” the nation’s first human-carrying platform that is a drone without a pilot. One person can fit inside the drone at a time.

2. India and the UK agreed to mutually recognize each other’s educational credentials by signing an MoU.
◉ India and the UK agreed to mutually recognize each other’s educational credentials by signing an MoU.
◉ An MoU on Mutual Recognition of Educational Qualifications, including Maritime Education, and a Framework Agreement on the Health Care Workforce have been signed between India and the UK.
◉ These agreements seek to increase short-term bilateral mobility, secure mutual recognition of qualifications and allow closer educational alignment between India and the UK.

3. The new employment policy endorsed by the Karnataka cabinet promises to create more jobs
◉ The new Employment Policy 2022–25, which will guarantee job reservations for native Kannadigas in industries, has been approved by the Karnataka state cabinet.
◉ Industries that are expanding are required by the new policy to add new jobs that are specifically designated for locals.
◉ The goal of the initiative is to increase employment in Karnataka.

4. The first district in MP to receive certification for “Har Ghar Jal” is Burhanpur.
◉ The Madhya Pradesh city of Burhanpur, popularly known as the “Darwaza of Dakhin,” has been recognized as India’s first “Har Ghar Jal” district.
◉ At the time of the Jal Jeevan Mission’s inauguration on August 15, 2019, only 37,241 rural families in Burhanpur (or 36.54 percent) had access to potable drinking water through tap connections.

5. India and Bangladesh agreed to implement CBMP effectively.
◉ The Comprehensive Border Management Plan will be efficiently implemented by India and Bangladesh (CBMP).
◉ It will prevent border crimes such as the smuggling of weapons, ammunition, gold, phony money, and drugs narcotics.
◉ Border Security Force and Bangladeshi Border Guards signed a Joint Record of Discussion (JRD).

6. From USD 7.5 billion, the forex reserve decreased to USD 572.7 billion, a 20-month low.
India and Bangladesh agreed to properly implement CBMP.
◉ The implementation of the Comprehensive Border Management Plan by Bangladesh and India will be effective (CBMP).
◉ It will stop border crimes like the smuggling of drugs, narcotics, gold, fake money, and weapons.
◉ A Joint Record of Discussion was signed by the Border Security Force and Bangladeshi Border Guards (JRD).

7. Seif Ahmed of Egypt is named as the FIH’s interim president.
◉ Seif Ahmed of Egypt has been named the acting president of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), replacing Indian administrator Narinder Batra.
◉ Batra left his positions as president of the FIH and of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
◉ Additionally, he renounced his membership in the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which was closely related to his IOA position.

8. Ennarasu Karunesan was chosen by IAPH to serve as its representative in India.
◉ Ennarasu Karunesan has been chosen to represent India at the International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH), a global ports forum for industry collaboration.
◉ He is currently a consultant with Indian Ports.
◉ The international trade organization for seaports is called IAPH.

9. Soorarai Pottru won the Best Film prize at the 68th National Film Awards.
◉ The 68th National Film Awards jury has revealed the 2020 winners at the National Media Center in New Delhi.
◉ The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Directorate of Film Festivals is in charge of planning the event. Anurag Thakur, Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting, announced the award recipients.

10. Kamal Haasan was honored by the UAE by receiving a Golden Visa.
◉ Kamal Haasan, a prominent figure in the Tamil cinema industry, has been given the prestigious “Golden Visa” by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
◉ The UAE Golden Visa is a lengthy residency visa program that lasts between five and ten years.
◉ It is given to professionals, professionals-in-training, and those with potential qualities.

11. The first Khelo India Fencing Women’s League will begin on July 25, 2022.
◉ The Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi will host the inaugural Khelo India Fencing Women’s League beginning on July 25, 2022.
◉ The first-ever national women’s fencing competition will go for three phases and end on July 29.

12. For umpires, BCCI created a new A+ category.
◉ Nitin Menon has been placed in the new A+ category for umpires by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), along with 10 other officials.
◉ Four foreign umpires—Anil Chaudhary, Madangopal Jayaraman, Virender Kumar Sharma, and K N Ananthapadmabhanan—are among the others in the A+ category. The A+ category also includes Rohan Pandit, Nikhil Patwardhan, Sadashiv Iyer, Ulhas Gandhe, and Navdeep Singh Sidhu.
