1. Goa observed the Sao Joao festival.
◉ After a two-year break brought on by the coronavirus, the people of Goa celebrated the Sao Joao festival, the feast of St. John the Baptist, with the customary fervour.
◉ The event honours Saint John the Baptist, who baptised Lord Jesus in the Jordan River, and it is held at the start of the monsoon season. On the occasion of Sao Joao, Siolim, a village in North Goa, hosts a customary canoe procession.
◉ The boat procession in Siolim hamlet of Goa’s Bardez taluka signalled the start of the festival’s celebrations with a sizable turnout.

2. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has accepted the Draft GSR (General Statutory Rules) Notification to adopt Bharat NCAP, according to the Union Minister (New Car Assessment Program).
◉ This draught states that crash test results will be used to assign star ratings to vehicles in India.

3. At Assam’s Kamakhya temple, the Ambubachi Mela came to a close.
◉ At the Kamakhya temple in Assam, the yearly Ambubachi Mela 2022 has come to a conclusion.
◉ The festival draws about 25 lakh visitors annually, making it the most major religious event for the temple and an important part of the state’s tourism calendar. For four days, the temple’s doors are kept locked in accordance with a fertility cult myth. It is thought that Goddess Kamakhya obtains her annual menstrual period at this time.

4. Global Liveability Index 2022: Vienna ranked first, New Delhi ranked 112, and Mumbai ranked 117.
◉ According to “The Global Liveability Index 2022” by the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU), looked at 173 cities globally. In addition to other considerations, the study takes political and social stability, crime, education, and health into account.
◉ In a list of 140 cities, Vienna, the capital of Austria, was again ranked as the world’s most livable city. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, Auckland, the capital of New Zealand, previously overtook Vienna.
◉ New Delhi, the capital of India, is listed as being one of the 112 most livable cities. Mumbai, the center of Indian finance, is ranked 117th.

5. Jointly branded contactless RuPay credit card was introduced by Nainital Bank and BOB Financial.
◉ A jointly branded Contactless RuPay Credit Card between Nainital Bank and Bank of Baroda has been introduced, according to BOB Financial Solutions Limited (BFSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of both banks.
◉ The card, which is being introduced in Nainital Bank’s centennial year, is intended to reward users for everyday spending categories including groceries and department stores.

6. Nitin Gupta, an IRS officer, has been named the next chairman of CBDT.
◉ Nitin Gupta has been appointed by the government to serve as Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
◉ Gupta is a member of the Board and an officer of the Income Tax cadre of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) from the 1986 batch.

7. In New Delhi, the Indian government held its first-ever National Logistics Excellence Awards.
◉ The Government of India sponsored the first National Logistics Excellence Awards in New Delhi.
◉ The awards were presented in 12 categories by Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Shri Som Parkash Sharma.
◉ The National Logistics Excellence Awards are intended to honor the numerous logistics service providers in the nation that have demonstrated creativity, variety, and effectiveness.

8. Presented with the Golden Achievement Award is Vijay Amritraj
◉ India’s Vijay Amritraj has been chosen as the 2021 Golden Achievement Award winner.
◉ Each year, the International Tennis Federation and International Tennis Hall of Fame offer the Golden Achievement Award.

9. With a Belarusian company, Bharat Electronics inked an MOU for the provision of the Airborne Defense Suite (ADS)
◉ A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and a Belarusian company and its subsidiary for the supply of Airborne Defence Suite (ADS) for the Indian Air Force helicopters (IAF).
◉ For the procurement of an advanced electronic warfare suite for helicopters under the “Make in India” category, DI will provide technical support.
◉ The three companies will work together under the terms of the MoU to supply ADS for IAF helicopters.

◉ The MSME Day is celebrated every year on June 27. The United Nations General Assembly observed Micro-Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSME) Day on April 6, 2017, during its 74th Plenary.
◉ Objective: To increase public awareness of the enormous contributions made by micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (SDGs).
