1. Bestu Varsh, the Gujarati New Year, will be observed on October 26, 2022.
◉ On October 26, 2022, Gujarati New Year, also known as Bestu Varsh, was observed. Varsha-Pratipada and Padwa are additional names for the Gujarati New Year.
◉ The Vikram Sanvat 2079 is another name for the Gujarati New Year.
◉ Businessmen and traders open their new ledgers and close their old ones on this fortunate day.

2. Haleem, a Hyderabadi from Telangana, won the Most Popular GI award.
◉ The Hyderabadi Haleem defeated all of the other 17 food products having Geographical Indication (GI) designation from all over India, including the Rasogulla, Bikaneri Bhujiya, and Ratlami Sev, to win the title of “Most Popular GI” in the food category.
◉ The winner was chosen through a voting process run by the department for the development of industry and internal trade and was given the award by the ministry of commerce and industry (under the commerce ministry).
◉ The Hyderabadi Haleem received GI designation for the first time in 2010. It was determined that Haleem could only be produced in Hyderabad and sold there. This was out of date as of December 2019.

3. Kerala released a mobile app to stop crimes against minors online.
◉ A mobile application called “Kunjapp” was introduced by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to stop cybercrimes against children in the region.
◉ The state government’s Department of Women and Child Development created it.
◉ By establishing a quick reaction team at the district level, immediate action will be taken in response to cases that the public has reported on Kunjapp.
◉ At Kovalam, Vijayan also kicked off the training for the recently appointed members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and Juvenile Justice Board (JJB).

4. For students, Honesty Shops have opened in Ernakulam, Kerala.
◉ For children up to Class 12, “honesty stores” were created in schools in Kerala’s Ernakulam district.
◉ The Student police cadet started this program with the intention of teaching pupils important lessons about honesty, ethics, and trust.
◉ In neither of these stores will there be a salesperson nor a store owner present.
◉ The money for each item can be placed inside the collection box that is kept on a table by the students as they chose what they need. Each item’s price list is visible right next to it.

5. Myanmar was added by FATF to its list of high-risk nations.
◉ The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has added Myanmar to its “Black List” of high-risk nations.
◉ Due to its “strategic weaknesses to address money laundering & terrorist funding,” Myanmar has been put on the list.
◉ Along with Iran and North Korea, Myanmar has been added as the third nation on this list.

6. Initiated by BSE, Electronic Gold Receipts
◉ The Electronic Gold Receipt (EGR) has been introduced on the BSE platform.
◉ These Electronic Gold Receipts will serve both business participants along the value chain and all market participants.
◉ EGR enables transparent gold transactions, the promotion of the India Good Delivery Standard, efficient price discovery and standardization of gold, and settlement guarantee to investors.

7. Yuvraj Singh is the T20 World Cup for the Blind’s brand ambassador.
◉ Yuvraj Singh, a former cricketer for India, has been named as the brand ambassador for the third T20 World Cup for the Blind by the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI).
◉ From December 5 to December 17, 2022, India will host the third T20 World Cup for the Blind.
◉ India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka are the participating nations.

8. Karnataka Bank earned prizes for its digital transformation.
◉ The Confederation of Indian Industry’s National Digital Transformation Awards (DX 2022 Awards) have been given to Karnataka Bank for the best practices in the BFSI sector.
◉ The bank is putting a lot of effort towards digitalization across a number of different verticals, including customer experience, operations, human resources, technology, cyber security, digital marketing, and partnerships.

9. Ukrainians took home the 2022 Sakharov Prize from the European Parliament.
◉ The annual Sakharov Award for intellectual freedom has been given to the people of Ukraine by the European Parliament in recognition of their resistance to the Russian invasion.
◉ Representatives of Ukrainian civic society will receive the prize money of €50,000 (£43,560).
◉ The award bears Andrei Sakharov’s name, a late Soviet dissident.
Since 1988, this honor has been given yearly to people and groups who fight for human rights and freedoms.
