1. Thirteen Indian airports have Digi Yatra, a facial recognition technology, installed.
◉ The government is constantly working to reduce the amount of time travelers must wait for security checks at airports by employing advanced technologies, hiring more security personnel, and upgrading security equipment.
◉ Digi Yatra has also been introduced at 13 airports, with additional airports to be covered gradually. Digi Yatra offers passengers a smooth and hassle-free experience at airports through biometric-based travel using Facial Recognition Technology.
◉ Gen. (Dr.) V. K. Singh (Retd., the Minister of State in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, provided this information in a written response to a question in the Lok Sabha.
2. 2024 is declared the International Year of Camelids by the UN.
◉ The International Year of Camelids has been proclaimed by the UN for 2024.
◉ The choice was made to draw attention to the substantial impact that camelids have on people’s lives all across the world.
◉ The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) claims that millions of households in more than 90 nations depend on camelids for their daily needs. All together, camelids—which include alpacas, Bactrian camels, dromedaries, guanacos, llamas, and vicuñas—assure food security, nutrition, and economic prosperity, particularly for local communities and Indigenous Peoples.
◉ To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as envisioned by the UN, camelids are crucial.

3. To Invest Up To Rs. 675 Crore, NIIF Plans Airport in Bhogapuram
◉ Up to Rs 675 crore would be invested by the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) in the GMR group’s proposed greenfield international airport in Bhogapuram, Andhra Pradesh.
◉ After GMR Goa International Airport Ltd., which runs Goa’s Manohar International Airport, this is NIIF’s second airport investment.
◉ Binding agreements have been reached between NIIF and GMR Airports Ltd (GAL), a division of GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd (GAIL), allowing NIIF to invest up to Rs 6.75 billion (Rs 675 crore) in GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Ltd (GVIAL).

4. India’s first AI city to be built in Lucknow by UP
◉ Lucknow, in Uttar Pradesh, will become the nation’s first artificial intelligence city.
◉ Through the integration of state-of-the-art technology, research facilities, and academic institutions, this program seeks to establish a vibrant artificial intelligence hub that will support innovation and develop the workforce of the future.
◉ The global AI market is expected to reach $137 billion in 2022, according to a Grand View Research estimate, and increase at a compound annual growth rate of 37.3 percent between 2023 and 2030.
◉ Centers of Excellence in fields such as AI and MedTech (with deep AI integration) are located in Lucknow. More than fifteen AI/ML start-ups are supported by the AI COE (located in IIIT Lucknow), which fosters an entrepreneurial and creative culture.

5. SBI and World Bank will execute a $165 million letter of credit for rooftop solar projects.
◉ The World Bank in Delhi has inked a $165 million Line of Credit (LoC) with the State Bank of India (SBI), the largest lender in the nation, to promote grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic projects in the residential and institutional sectors.
◉ SBI said in September that it would require rooftop solar installations for home loans for residential projects financed by the bank’s long-term climate action funds, which are obtained from international organizations.
◉ The World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and German KfW are among the multilateral organizations from which the lender has outstanding foreign loans totaling $2.3 billion.

6. Introduced by Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance, T.U.L.I.P.
◉ The T.U.L.I.P. – Term with Unit Linked Insurance Plan is a new insurance policy offered by Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company.
◉ With life coverage up to 100 times the yearly premium, this unit-linked term insurance plan enables clients to potentially earn returns akin to those of a unit-linked insurance plan (ULIP).
◉ It provides additional protection against serious illnesses and unintentional death in addition to life insurance.
◉ Like a term plan, TULIP gives its clients complete security, but it also gives them the chance to increase their money like a ULIP. Its goal is to provide the basic financial demands of our clients.

7. Satish Kumar Kalra has been appointed interim MD & CEO by North East SFB.
◉ Destined for a merger Satish Kumar Kalra has been named the acting MD and CEO of North East Small Finance Bank by the Reserve Bank of India and the bank’s board.
◉ Before Andhra Bank’s merger with Union Bank of India, Kalra served as MD, CEO (in charge), and Executive Director.
◉ In October 2023, the RBI issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the proposed merger of Fintech Slice and the small finance bank.

8. Pramod Agrawal’s appointment as BSE Chairman is approved by SEBI.
◉ The nomination of Pramod Agrawal to the position of Chairman of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has been approved by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
◉ Agrawal’s term will begin on January 17, 2024, according to a stock market regulatory filing.
◉ He’ll take SS Mundra’s position.
◉ Up to June 2023, Agrawal, a former IAS official, served as Chairman of Coal India.

9. The third of Project 15B’s four warships—the Visakhapatnam class stealth-guided missile destroyers—INS Imphal (Pennant D68), to be commissioned into the Indian Navy in Mumbai, is scheduled to become the nation’s first warship named after a northeastern state.
◉ The action was taken to strengthen its marine capabilities in light of China’s growing territorial incursions into the Indian Ocean.
◉ Rajnath Singh, the minister of defense, was the event’s chief guest.
◉ The President gave his assent for it in April 2019, making it the first warship named after a Northeastern city.

10. Indian women report the first historical victory over Australia in tests
◉ At Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India won a women’s test match against Australia for the first time, winning handily by eight wickets in the one-off encounter.
◉ India held a dominant 187-run lead in the first innings and grabbed control of the game. They bowled Australia out for 261 in the second innings, needing just 75 runs to win the match. After lunch, India managed to reach the mark with two wickets lost.
◉ Since the two sides’ first meeting in the longest format in 1977, India has won just one of their last 11 tests against Australia.
◉ Due to her seven-wicket haul, off-spinner Sneh Rana was named player of the match.
