1. Rajnath Singh, Raksha Mantri, instals a plaque honouring late Manohar Parrikar, renaming the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses.

  • Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses has been renamed the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses in New Delhi (MP-IDSA).
  • On November 15, 2021, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh dedicated a plaque renaming the institute after former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

2. The 41st Scientific Expedition to Antarctica is launched by India.

  • On November 15, 2021, India successfully launched the 41st Scientific Expedition to Antarctica.
  • The first group of 23 scientists and support personnel has arrived at the Indian Antarctic station Maitri. By the middle of January 2022, four more batches will have arrived in Antarctica.

3. India, Singapore, and Thailand are three of the most populous Asian countries. SITMEX – 21 is a trilateral maritime exercise held in the Andaman Sea.

  • SITMEX – 21, the 3rd edition of the Trilateral Maritime Exercise, is taking place in the Andaman Sea from November 15 to 16. The event will feature the navies of India, Singapore, and Thailand.
  • From India, the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Karmuk is competing in the third edition. It’s a Missile Corvette made in the United States.

4. This month, the Centre would release over 95 billion rupees in tax devolution to the states.

  • Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister, has announced that the Centre will distribute 95 thousand 82 crore rupees in tax devolution to States this month, including one advance instalment to help them accelerate capital investment.
  • States should take advantage of this opportunity, she said, to increase investment and growth. States were also asked to assist India become the world’s fastest-growing economy in the next years by improving investor attractiveness and speeding up ease-of-doing-business initiatives.

5. The Cabinet of Arunachal Pradesh has passed a climate change declaration.

  • Arunachal Pradesh’s cabinet meeting was conducted for the first time outside of the state capital of Itanagar, at the Pakke Tiger Reserve in Pakke Kessang district.
  • The Pakke Tiger Reserve 2047 Declaration on Climate Change-Resilient and Responsive Arunachal Pradesh was adopted by the state government, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu. The declaration aims to reduce emissions and achieve long-term development.

6. The 41st Scientific Expedition to Antarctica is launched by India.

  • With the arrival of the first batch of its personnel in the southern white continent, India has successfully launched the 41st Scientific Expedition to Antarctica.
  • Last Monday, the first batch of 23 scientists and support workers arrived at the Indian Antarctic Station Maitri.

7. The World Bank and the Asian Development Bank have launched the ‘WePOWER India Partnership Forum’ in order to boost women’s participation in the energy sector.

  • The virtual WePOWER India Partnership Forum kicked off efforts to grow up the South Asian Women in Power Sector Professional Network (WePOWER) in India.
  • 168 top energy sector stakeholders were present for this crucial event. The World Bank and the Asian Development Bank co-hosted the event with the India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF).

8. Retail (CPI) inflation is expected to be 5.3 percent in 2021-22, according to the RBI.

  • CPI inflation is expected to be 5.3 percent in fiscal year 2021-22, with 5.1 percent in the second quarter, 4.5 percent in the third, and 5.8 percent in the fourth quarter, according to the central bank RBI, with risks largely balanced.
  • Due to an increase in food costs, India’s retail inflation rate increased slightly in October to 4.48 percent from 35 percent in September, according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). In October of last year, inflation was 61 percent.

9. The government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a loan agreement for 61 million dollars for the development of Agartala.

  • The Union Government and the Asian Development Bank, ADB, signed a 61-million-dollar loan to improve livability, harness technology, and promote new developments in Agartala city in order to accommodate the city’s growing population while also strengthening state agencies’ capacity for better service delivery.
  • The project will construct 23 kilometres of climate-resilient urban highways and upgrade 48 kilometres of new or existing stormwater drainage.

10. The Centre proposes an ordinance that would allow ED and CBI directors to serve for up to 5 years.

  • The Centre has passed an ordinance extending the tenure of directors of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to five years.
  • The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) Act of 2003 now appoints the director of the CBI and the director of the ED for a two-year term.

11. The Centre has issued a notification extending the terms of the IB director, the Defence, Home, and RAW Secretaries.

  • The Defence Secretary, Home Secretary, Director of Intelligence Bureau, and Secretary of Research and Analysis Wing all had their terms extended for another two years by the Centre.
  • According to the announcement, the Centre may grant these senior officers service extensions if the government deems it necessary.

12. Lewis Hamilton wins the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2021.

  • The 2021 Formula One Sao Paulo Grand Prix was won by Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes-Great Britain) (earlier known as Brazilian Grand Prix).
  • The Brazilian Grand Prix 2021 saw Max Verstappen (Red Bull – Netherlands) finish second and Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes – Finland) finish third.

13. M. Mukundan, a Malayalam writer, has been awarded the JCB Prize for Literature in 2021.

  • The JCB Prize for Literature was awarded to Mukundan’s “Delhi: A Soliloquy,” which was translated from Malayalam by Fathima E.V. and Nandakumar K.
  • Mukundan will earn a prize of Rs 25 lakh, while Fathima and Nandakumar will each receive Rs 10 lakh.

14. Vihaan and Nav Agarwal, two Indian brothers, have won the Children’s Peace Prize for their garbage project.

  • The 2021 KidsRights International Children’s Peace Prize has been awarded to two Indian adolescent brothers for their efforts to combat pollution caused by household trash.
  • Vihaan (17) and Nav Agarwal (14) created the “One Step Greener” programme, which involves sorting recyclables and coordinating garbage pickups from thousands of houses.

  • As a significant controversy raged over the matter, senior Congressman Salman Khurshid stated that he never referred to Hindutva and ISIS as the same thing in his new book, but rather as comparable.
  • Meanwhile, a Delhi court has issued an order against the printing, circulation, and sale of the book, titled ‘Sunrise Over Ayodhya: Nationhood in Our Times,’ for allegedly injuring the feelings of a wide part of society. 17. Babasaheb Purandare, a Padma Vibhushan awardee and historian, died at the age of 99.

  • Balwant Moreshwar Purandare, an acclaimed historian, orator, and notable author from Maharashtra, has died. He was 99 years old at the time.
