1. Obtaining 100% ODF Plus Coverage in Uttar Pradesh
◉ Under the flagship Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) program, Uttar Pradesh has achieved 100% Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus coverage.
◉ All of Uttar Pradesh’s over 96,000 villages have now been designated ODF Plus.
◉ An ODF Plus village is one that has implemented solid or liquid waste management systems in addition to maintaining its open defecation-free status.
◉ The majority of villages in the country—roughly 4.4 lakh—have proclaimed themselves ODF Plus as of this writing, which is a key step toward attaining the SBM-G Phase-II objectives by 2024–2025.

2. PM Modi dedicates an FM relay station in Dahod.
◉ The foundation stone was laid by Gujarat’s premier for the Akashvani Dahod FM Relay Station Project.
◉ The Prime Minister virtually unveiled the Foundation Stone plaque for the 10-kilowatt FM Relay Station at an event in Bodeli, the state, along with other projects.
◉ This station will be built at an estimated cost of Rs. 11.00 crore, and it will be strategically placed to cover a 55 km radius or almost 75% of the Dahod tribal district.

3. At Amritsar, Amit Shah presided over the Northern Zonal Council.
◉ The 31st Meeting of the Northern Zonal Council was presided over by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Amritsar.
◉ The meeting was attended by the chief ministers of Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, the lieutenant governors of Delhi, Jammu Kashmir, and Ladakh, the administrator of Chandigarh, senior ministers from member states, the secretary of the Inter-State Council, the union home secretary, chief secretaries from member states in the northern zone, as well as other senior officers from the states and UTs and the central ministries and departments.
◉ The Council talked about a total of 28 topics.

4. The Odisha Assembly approves a measure for land purchase.
◉ The land purchase and resettlement bill, which will allow the government to remove strategic and development projects from social impact studies, was one of four legislation enacted by the Odisha legislature.
◉ After being first introduced in the assembly in March, the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement (Odisha Amendment) Bill, 2023, was later withdrawn after receiving harsh criticism.
◉ The land purchase bill gives the government the power to waive social impact evaluations and extra safeguards for ensuring food security for “strategic and development projects.”

5. India ranks 40th on the global innovation index for 2023, with Switzerland at the top.
◉ The World Intellectual Property Organization’s Global Innovation Index 2023 rankings place India at number 40 out of 132 economies.
◉ The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), an organization of the United Nations, has produced the 16th edition of the index, which rates nations’ economies based on their capacity for innovation.
◉ Switzerland is the most creative economy in 2023 for the 13th consecutive year, followed by Sweden, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Singapore.

6. By 2050, 20% of Indians will be over the age of 65, according to a UNFPA report
◉ According to the United Nations Population Fund’s (UNFPA) India Ageing Report 2023, the country’s old population will probably quadruple by the year 2050.
◉ The analysis predicts that India’s elder population (those over 60) will double from 10.5 percent as of July 2022 to 20.8 percent in 2050, with a total of 347 million.
◉ The elderly will make up almost 36% of the nation’s population by the turn of the century, according to UN research.

7. Manish Jain is appointed as the nation’s head of wholesale banking by Yes Bank.
◉ Manish Jain has been named as the new country head of wholesale banking by Yes Bank.
◉ Ravi Thota, who resigned on August 2, 2023, claiming personal and professional reasons, is succeeded by him.
◉ Jain will be in charge of leading Yes Bank’s wholesale banking division.
◉ Jain has worked at Standard Chartered Bank for 23 years of his three decades of employment.
◉ Pankaj Sharma, meantime, has been appointed as Yes Bank’s Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer.

8. Shailesh Gupta was chosen as Chairman of the Media Research Users Council of India.
◉ Media Research Users Council India has named Shailesh Gupta as its new chairman.
◉ Meanwhile, Media Research Users Council India has selected Shashank Srivastava as vice chairman.
◉ The newly appointed individuals succeed Media Brands CEO Shashidhar Sinha.
◉ The Board of Governors has selected Rajeev Beotra and Anupriya Acharya as new members.

9. India won the mixed doubles tennis gold medal.
◉ At the Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2023, the mixed doubles team of Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja ◉ Bhosale won the gold medal by defeating Chinese Taipei’s En-shuo Liang and Tsung-hao Huang.
◉ In this Asiad, the pair gave India their eighth gold medal.
◉ In the men’s doubles earlier, Ramanathan Ramkumar and Saket Myneni won silver.

10. India won gold in the Asian Games’ 10m Air Pistol Team competition. 2023
◉ At the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, India took home the gold medal in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol team competition.
◉ Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Singh Cheema, and Shiva Narwal are members of the India team.
◉ After Roshibina Devi Naorem’s silver medal in wushu, this was India’s second medal of the day in shooting and their 13th overall.
◉ Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Singh Cheema, and Shiva Narwal teamed for a total of 1734 points, beating China (1733) and Vietnam (1730) in a match that ended up being quite close.
