1. Launched the first National Highway steel slag road on NH-66 Mumbai-Goa.
◉ On NH-66 Mumbai-Goa, V.K. Saraswat has dedicated the first segment of the National Highway Steel Slag Road.
◉ created by CSIR-CRRI, turns trash from the steel industry into a resource that helps build sturdy and environmentally friendly national highways.
◉ This invention supports the National Highways Authority of India’s (NHAI) initiatives to improve the nation’s infrastructure sustainability.
◉ On the Indapur-Panvel segment of NH-66 Mumbai-Goa, JSW Steel has successfully built a one-kilometer steel slag road segment with four lanes, thanks to the technological assistance of CSIR-CRRI.

2. Ayodhya’s Ram temple is dedicated on January 22, which the MP government has declared a dry day.
◉ The government of Madhya Pradesh has proclaimed January 22 to be a “dry day,” on which alcohol stores will be closed in observance of the dedication of Lord Ram’s temple in Ayodhya.
◉ Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that the state government has chosen to keep all stores closed on this month 22nd, including Bhang outlets and liquor stores, in consideration of the sentiments of the populace.
◉ In light of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony, some states, including Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Assam, have already designated January 22 as a “dry day.”

3. Concerning Pradhan Mantri PM-JANMAN stands for Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan.
◉ To support the socioeconomic well-being of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), PM-JANMAN was introduced on November 15, 2023, in honor of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.
◉ With an anticipated ₹24,000 crore budget, PM-JANMAN works with nine ministries to implement eleven vital interventions.
◉ By providing PVTG households and habitations with basic amenities like secure housing, hygienic drinking water, improved access to healthcare, education, and nutrition, electricity, road, and telecom connectivity, and opportunities for sustainable livelihood, it seeks to improve the socioeconomic conditions of PVTGs.

4. The Pench Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra is now India’s first Dark Sky Park.
◉ The first Dark Sky Park in India and the sixth in Asia is the Pench Tiger Reserve (PTR) in Maharashtra.
◉ This esteemed recognition highlights the reserve’s steadfast dedication to preserving the serenity of the night sky and providing the best possible environment for astronomy enthusiasts.
◉ The inherent importance of the night sky as a natural, cultural, and historical resource is something that the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) strongly advocates.
◉ The IUCN also emphasizes how important it is to maintain natural darkness for the sake of protecting the environment, maintaining ecological integrity in protected areas, and promoting community well-being in urban areas.

5. Simmtech, a South Korean company, enters an agreement to establish a semiconductor ecosystem in Gujarat.
◉ To develop a semiconductor ecosystem in Gujarat, South Korean company Simmtech has inked an MOU with the government to establish a plant in Sanand for Rs1,250 crore, following US chipmaker Micron and the Tata group.
◉ Thirty acres of property have been given to a South Korean corporation, and work is scheduled to begin within the next two to three months. The plants will need to be built up by the company in 6-7 months.
◉ The largest producer of semiconductor substrates worldwide is Simmtech.
◉ The center and state governments have provided the company with a subsidy under the SPECS (Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors) program.

6. Tata Consumer has agreements to purchase Organic India and Capital Foods.
◉ The official agreements to fully buy Capital Foods, the parent company of Smith & Jones and Ching’s Secret, and Organic India, the manufacturer of organic teas and health products backed by ◉ Fabindia, have been signed by Tata Consumer Products Ltd (TCPL).
◉ For 100% ownership in Capital Foods, TCPL will pay an enterprise value of ₹5,100 crore on a no-cash, no-debt basis.
◉ For the next three years, TCPL will buy the remaining 25% of Capital Foods outright and the remaining 75% upfront.

7. In December, wholesale inflation increases to 0.73%.
◉ December’s WPI-based inflation increased by 0.73%, mostly as a result of a notable increase in food costs.
◉ From April through October, the WPI inflation rate was negative; however, in November, it started to rise, reaching 0.26%.
◉ The price increases of food items, machinery & equipment, other manufacturing, other transport equipment, computers, electronics & optical products, etc. are the main causes of the positive rate of inflation in December 2023.
◉ From 8.18% in November 2023 to 9.38% in December 2023, food inflation increased.
◉ In December, there was a 26.30% inflation in vegetables and a 19.60% inflation in pulses. The December retail price-based inflation (CPI) report reached a 4-month high of 5.69%.

9. Indian Army Day is January 15th.

◉ On this day, people celebrate the Indian Army’s victory over the British Army. Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa succeeded British Commander-in-Chief General Francis Butcher as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army on January 15, 1949.
