1. PM speaks at All India Primary Teachers’ Federation’s 29th Biennial Conference in Gandhinagar
◉ The 29th Biennial Education Conference of the All India Primary Teacher’s Federation was held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, and featured remarks by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
◉ The conference’s goal is to give primary teachers a forum where they may discuss issues in primary education, share their experiences, and collaborate.
◉ The conference covered topics like compensation structure, job security, working conditions, and professional recognition in addition to the welfare and rights of primary school teachers.

2. Doctors are required to have a unique ID by the National Medical Commission.
◉ A new decision adopted by the National Medical Commission mandates that all doctors in India obtain a Unique Identification Number (UID) in order to practise medicine.
◉ According to the new legislation, the NMC ethics board will generate the UID centrally, granting the practitioner NMR registration and the right to practise medicine in India.
◉ For all of the nation’s licenced physicians and medical professionals, there will be one central national medical register. The Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) of the NMC will uphold the same.

3. Amit Shah launches a legislative drafting training programme in New Delhi
◉ Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, launched a training course on crafting laws in New Delhi.
◉ The Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies and the Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies are working together to organise the programme.
◉ Its goal is to help officers of the Parliament, State Legislatures, other ministries, statutory bodies, and other government entities comprehend the fundamentals and procedures of legislative drafting.

4. ‘Him Data Portal’ was inaugurated by the Himachal CM.
◉ Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, has introduced the “Him Data Portal,” a standard digital platform that will combine data from all organisations to execute welfare programmes and better serve the general population.
◉ The ‘Him Parivar’ initiative, which would provide each person with a unique digital identity, will be launched by the state government in July 2023.
◉ It would be simple for those connected to the Him Pariyojna project to learn about the numerous welfare programmes.

5. In Bhubaneswar, the second G20 Culture Group (CWG) meeting was place.
◉ Bhubaneswar, Odisha hosts the second Culture Group conference under the G20.
◉ Through debate and collaboration on cultural concerns, historical preservation, creative industries, and cultural diplomacy, the G20 member states are encouraged to participate in the CWG meeting.
◉ With the slogan “Culture Unites All,” the Culture Working Group (CWG) conference held during India’s G20 Presidency will highlight India’s steadfast commitment to multilateralism, which is founded on peaceful coexistence among many cultures and communities.

6. The third ETWG (Energy Transitions Working Group) gathering
◉ From May 15 to 17, 2023, Mumbai will host the third Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting (ETWG) during India’s G20 Presidency.
◉ Facilitate communication, knowledge exchange, and collaboration between nations and stakeholders in order to hasten the switch to inexpensive, sustainable, and clean energy sources.
◉ More than 100 delegations from various G20 member nations, special invitee countries, as well as representatives from international organisations like the World Bank, International Energy Agency (IEA), and World Energy Council, will attend.

7. India-EU Trade and Technology Council’s inaugural gathering in Brussels
◉ The India-European Union Trade and Technology Council (TTC) had its inaugural ministerial-level gathering in Brussels, Belgium.
◉ Objective: To improve collaboration in trade, investments, clean energy, digital connectivity, and strategic technologies.
◉ Piyush Goyal, the minister of commerce, co-chaired the meeting with EAM S. Jaishankar and Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the minister of state for electronics and information technology.

8. The first polio death was reported in Afghanistan in 2023
◉ The first case of poliovirus year 2023 has been reported from Afghanistan. It was found in the province of Nangarhar by the nation’s health authorities.
◉ In the area, a four-year-old child has been diagnosed with polio, and up to two cases of the wild poliovirus have been discovered globally.
◉ In Afghanistan, there were a total of 56 cases of polio reported in 2020, and four cases were reported in 2021. Polio cases were detected twice last year. As a result, polio cases have been declining across the nation.

9. Speaking at the G7 Ministerial Meeting on Health Innovation in Japan was the Health Minister.
◉ Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, spoke at the Nagasaki, Japan, G7 Health Ministerial meeting on Global Health Architecture.
◉ The purpose of the gathering was to examine how to implement and use health innovation, such as digital health, to achieve Universal Health Coverage.
◉ The summit was open to the health ministers of the G7 and the “Outreach 4” nations of India, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand.

10. The second person in the world to climb Everest 26 times is a sherpa from Nepal.
◉ Pa Dawa, a.k.a. Pasang Dawa Sherpa, has successfully scaled Mount Everest for the 26th time, tying the previous record held by another Nepalese mountaineer.
◉ Pa Dawa had already scaled Everest 25 times, including twice in 2022, according to the Himalayan Database. Dawa has successfully climbed the mountain nearly every year since his first attempt in 1998.
◉ Kami Rita Sherpa, a fellow mountain guide, is the only other person to have ascended the 8,849-meter (29,032-foot) mountain 26 times.

11. India the 23rd round of the bilateral exercise with Indonesia Samudra Shakti
◉ Samudra Shakti-23, the fourth iteration of the India-Indonesia bilateral exercise, will take place in Batam, Indonesia, from May 14 to 23.
◉ The exercise included participation from the INS Kavaratti, the Dornier Maritime Patrol aircraft, and the Chetak helicopter.
◉ The exercise also includes a Chetak helicopter and a Dornier maritime patrol aircraft from the Indian Navy.
◉ KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda, CN 235 Maritime Patrol Aircraft, and AS565 Panther Helicopters are used to represent the Indonesian Navy.

12. Gold medalist Sumit Mukherjee at the BFAME Championships in Lahore
◉ At the Bridge Federation of Asia and Middle-East Championship (BFAME) in Lahore, Pakistan, Sumit Mukherjee of Kolkata won the gold medal.
◉ In the 24-person Indian contingent, only Sumit worked for the railways.
◉ The Indian team took part in matches that fell within the open, women’s, mixed, and senior divisions. India’s representative in the open division was Sumit Mukherjee.
◉ Six players made up each of the teams that competed in each division. Sumit won one gold medal, and the Indian team won four golds across four different categories.
