1. In Kolkata, the president introduces the “My Bengal, Addiction-Free Bengal” campaign.
◉ President Droupadi Murmu introduced the ‘My Bengal, Addiction-Free Bengal’ campaign during an event held at the Raj Bhavan. This important initiative, organized by the Brahma Kumaris, aims to address the pervasive problem of drug use among young people.
◉ The president emphasized the urgent need to find workable ways to eliminate this menace from society while acknowledging the cooperative efforts of the federal and state governments in addressing this matter.

2. The World’s Highest Motorable Road is Being Built by BRO in Eastern Ladakh
◉ In the Demchok area of Ladakh, the Border Roads Organization (BRO) has started a ground-breaking initiative to build the “Likaru-Mig La-Fukche” road.
◉ By surpassing Umling La Pass’ previous record and reaching an elevation of roughly 19,400 feet, this important road will become the highest motorable road in the world. The initiative’s significance for national security was highlighted by its launch on India’s 77th Independence Day.

3. Assent is given to the Central and Integrated GST Amendment Bills, 2023 by President Droupadi Murmu.
◉ Two significant pieces of legislation, the Integrated Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill of 2023 and the Central Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill of 2023 have received the official assent of President Droupadi Murmu.
◉ The existing Central Goods and Services Tax Act of 2017 will be amended by the Central Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023. The fundamental definitions and provisions in this law have been modified to better reflect the changing technology and economic environments.

4. RBI’s Updated IDF-NBFC Guidelines to Promote Infrastructure Financing
◉ Newly updated guidelines for Infrastructure Debt Fund-Non-Banking Financial Companies (IDF-NBFCs) have been released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). These changes are intended to improve the role of IDF-NBFCs in financing the infrastructure sector and to harmonize the laws governing NBFC financing of the infrastructure sector.
◉ IDF-NBFCs must maintain a minimum Net Owned Fund (NOF) of Rs 300 crore in accordance with the new regulations. This measure makes sure that these organizations have enough financial resources to contribute significantly to the funding of infrastructure.

5. Rahul Dravid is named the brand ambassador by BPCL.
◉ Rahul Dravid, a cricketer, has been named as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.’s (BPCL) new brand ambassador. He will support the Pure for Sure program and the MAK lubricant line from BPCL.
◉ The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, owns the public sector enterprise known as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). It runs refineries in Mumbai, Kochi, and Bina.
◉ The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is responsible for overseeing the activities of BPCL, which is the second-largest government-owned downstream oil producer in India. It came in at 309 on the Fortune list of the largest public sector organizations in the world in 2020 and at 792 on Forbes’ “Global 2000” list in 2021.

6. Ratan Tata received the “Udyog Ratna” award from the Maharashtra government.
