1. Kolkata hosts the start of the 11th Bangladesh Book Fair.
◉ The eleventh Bangladesh Book Fair gets underway in College Square, with participation from 65 publishing houses.
◉ Since many publishers are unable to participate in the Kolkata International Bookfair, this would enable the publishers to connect with more readers interested in Bangladeshi literature in Kolkata.
◉ The fair is scheduled to run through December 13.
2. Takeda and BIRAC collaborated on innovative healthcare in India.
◉ Takeda and the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) of India have inked a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide advising and mentorship services to healthcare innovators and entrepreneurs.
◉ The cooperation was unveiled at the Global Bio-India 2023 conference and serves as a model for how the public and commercial sectors may work together to achieve significant improvements in healthcare.
◉ Established by the Indian government’s Department of Biotechnology, BIRAC is a public sector company.
◉ Through the collaboration, Takeda will be able to help innovators and entrepreneurs with everything from concept to commercialization of cutting-edge healthcare solutions.
3. Over the previous three years, 18 crore 50 lakh people have enlisted in the PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana.
◉ The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) have enrolled 18 crore and 50 lakh beneficiaries in total during the previous three years, according to information provided to the Rajya Sabha by Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad.

5. The RBI revokes Shankarrao Pujari Bank’s Maharashtra license.
◉ The license of Shankarrao Pujari Nutan Nagari Sahakari Bank Limited in Kolhapur city has been revoked by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
◉ It has also been requested that an order be issued by the Commissioner for Cooperation and Registrar Cooperative Societies, Maharashtra, to wound up the bank and designate a liquidator.
◉ The RBI claims that the license was revoked because the bank did not meet the requirements of Sections 11(1) and 22(3)(d) read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act of 1949, and did not have sufficient capital or earning potential.
◉ In addition, the bank has broken several other Banking Regulation Act of 1949 provisions.
6. India’s GDP is predicted by S&P to rise to the third rank by 2030.
◉ According to an S&P Global Ratings estimate, India’s economy would rise to become the third largest in the world by 2030.
◉ India’s gross domestic product (GDP) is predicted to increase by 7% in 2026–2027. India’s economy currently ranks fifth in the world, behind that of the US, China, Germany, and Japan.

7. Telangana Congress President and recently elected Kodangal MLA Revanth Reddy takes the oath of office as Telangana’s chief minister.

◉ Reddy will be the second man to hold the state’s chief medical officer position since it was established in 2014.
