1. In Madhya Pradesh, the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention was held.
◉ From January 8 to January 10, the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention will be held in Indore thanks to a collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh government.
◉ The Diaspora: Reliable Partners for India’s Progress in Amrit Kaal is the focus of this PBD seminar.
◉ The convention has more than 3,500 registered attendees from almost 70 different countries in the Diaspora.
◉ The fact that the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conference is being arranged as a physical event for the first time in four years is also important.

2. Anurag Thakur unveiled the Y20 summit’s themes, logo, and website.
◉ Anurag Singh Thakur, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports unveiled the Y20 Summit’s themes, logo, and website in New Delhi at the curtain-raiser ceremony for the Y20 Summit India.
◉ The G20’s official youth involvement group is called Youth 20 (Y20).
◉ It offers a forum for young people to share their thoughts on the G20 priorities.
◉ The second part of the event will also feature panel discussions with young achievers.

3. The state-of-the-art hockey stadium in Rourkela was opened by the CM of Odisha.
◉ Odisha The state-of-the-art hockey stadium in Rourkela was opened by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
◉ Bhagwan Birsa Munda, a great liberation fighter, is honored by having the stadium bear his name.
◉ The stadium was constructed in a record-breaking 15 months for a cost of 261 crore rupees.
◉ He also opened the Hockey World Cup village, which will accommodate the teams competing in the 2017 hockey World Cup, in addition to the stadium.
◉ The Stadium, one of two locations where the next hockey tournament would be contested, is being advertised as the largest stadium in the world with a seating capacity of 20,000 spectators.

4. Purple Fest, India’s first inclusion festival, debuts in Goa
◉ Union In Goa, the first inclusion festival in India, “Purple Fest: Celebrating Diversity,” was launched by Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Virendra Kumar.
◉ Goal: To highlight how we can cooperate to make the world a friendly and inclusive place for everyone.
◉ A wide range of electrifying live performances, sporting events, significant exhibitions, immersive experience zones, accessible movie screenings, and lectures on significant subjects including inclusive education, tourism, employment, and independent living will be featured at The Purple Fest.

5. The Voice of Global South Summit will be held in India.
◉ On January 12 and 13, 2023, India will hold a special virtual summit dubbed the “Voice of Global South Summit.”
◉ Unity of Voice, Unity of Purpose is the summit’s theme. This conference has invited representatives from more than 120 nations.
◉ The program draws inspiration from Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas.

6. Thiruvananthapuram is home to the world’s first palm-leaf manuscript museum.
◉ The world’s first museum of palm leaf manuscripts has opened in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, enhancing the state’s cultural and educational landscape.
◉ A wealth of tales based solely on primary sources are chronicled in 187 manuscripts in the museum, which just opened last week.
◉ The palm leaves used for these documents are crisp and clear, and they are provided in the record rooms. Before composing the description, these palm leaves were treated during that time.
◉ The museum is a collection of intriguing tidbits about the political, societal, and economic aspects of the 650-year-long Travancore monarchy that ended in the 19th century.

7. RBI plans to issue two 8,000 crore rupee tranches of green bonds.
◉ On January 25 and February 9, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will issue two tranches of Sovereign Green Bonds, each worth Rs 8,000 crore.
◉ The funds raised will be used for government initiatives that lower the economy’s carbon footprint.
◉ At each auction, the RBI will sell two bonds with maturities of five and ten years, respectively, for Rs 4,000 crore. Uniform Price Auctions will be used to issue sovereign green bonds.

8. According to an NSO estimate, India’s GDP will expand by 7.0 percent in FY23.
◉ The first advance projections released in January 2023 by the National Statistical Office (NSO) predict that India’s economy would expand by 7.0% in the fiscal year 2023.
◉ India’s growth was predicted to be 7% in the fiscal year 2022.
◉ The figures for the first half of FY23 (April to September), which was announced on November 30, showed that the economy expanded by 9.7%.
◉ In FY23, the GDP is expected to rise by 6.8 percent according to the RBI, and by 6.9 percent according to the World Bank.

9. Pranesh M became the 79th Grandmaster of India.
◉ M from Tamilnadu Pranesh (16) won the Rilton Cup, the opening match of the FIDE Circuit, to become the 79th Grandmaster of India in chess.
◉ Pranesh obtained the necessary 2500 ELO ratings and won the Rilton Cup in the last round to win the championship after defeating GM Frode Olav Olsen Urkedal of Norway.
◉ He also becomes the first Grandmaster of India in 2023 as a result.
◉ Koustav Chatterjee was appointed the 78th Grandmaster of India in December 2022.
